'The Deepest End' is - like the previous release 'The Deep End' - a tribute to Gov't Mules's bassis Allen Woody, who died in 2000. Recorded live in concert at The Saenger Theatre on May 3rd 2003, New Orleans, during the 'New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival' with the support of a lot of great guest artists like Sonny Landreth, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Fred Wesley and Bernie Worrell (Parliament/Funkadelic), David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Ivan Neville, saxophonist Karl Denson and banjo player Béla Fleck. And again Woody was replaced by various famous bass guitarists like Jack Casady (Fefferson Aitplane/Hot Tuna), Les Claypool (Primus), Jason Newsted (Metallica), Roger Glover (Deep Purple), Mike Gordon (Phish), Conrad Lozano (Los Lobos), Rob Wasserman and Victor Wooten.
